What makes P57 so unique is the way it tells your brain that you are full, even when you are not eating. When you eat any food, the molecules of food move from you stomach and into your blood stream. This rising tide of nutrients in your blood stream is used for energy, to build and repair you body, and to carry on other vital functions. This influx of nutrients contains the simple glucose (basic sugar) molecule. Glucose travels through the blood stream to the brain and where a special glucose sensing part of the brain called the hypothalamus lets you know when you have enough to eat. This shut-off mechanism that tells you that you are full is regulated by the amount of glucose in your blood.

The P57 molecule found in the hoodia plant has been found to be 10,000 times more effective than simple glucose at telling your brain has had enough.

This means that taking hoodia as a supplement results in a reduced amount of calories that you consume. Experimental animals and humans have demonstrated a 30% to 60% reduction in the amount of calories they consume when taking this hoodia. Imagine what that would do to your waistline! The most efficient way to ensure weight loss is to avoid eating calories in the first place. It is much harder to burn off calories that you have eaten than to avoid eating them in the first place.

The hoodia plant has a long history in its native country. It has long been used by local Bushmen who would take the plant before they left on long hunting parties where they might not eat for days. The cactus itself is slow growing and has only recently been cultivated. This means that true hoodia tends to be expensive because it is in such short supply.
